Downloading or Making a Backup of Your Images

A product export contains image URLs, not the image files themselves. To make a local backup, export the URLs and then download the files they reference.

  1. Go to Bulk → Exports. Choose products as the Type and include as the Mode. Leave Search empty to include all products, or enter a search to back up a subset.
  2. Add guid and the image fields used by your products, such as media1 through media10. Include mediax and any custom fields containing image URLs if you use them. Export and download the CSV.
  3. Keep the original CSV so you can match each image to its product and position. Make a separate text file containing one image URL per line. Remove blank values and duplicate URLs. If a mediax value contains several URLs separated by *, put each URL on its own line.
  4. For a few images, open each URL in your browser and save the image. For a larger backup, use a download tool that accepts a list of URLs and that your organization approves.
  5. Check for failed downloads, open a sample of the saved images, and retain the CSV with the image files in your backup location.

Export every image field you use: images referenced only in a channel-specific or custom field will not be included merely by exporting media1–media10. Keep your source image files as well if you need the originals uploaded before SureDone resized them.
