eBay Error Code 5: An invalid XML character *(Unicode: 0x1d)* was found in the CDATA section.

Error:

- ebayid:83 Failure | ErrorCode:5
ShortMessage:XML Parse error.
LongMessage:XML Error Text: "; nested exception is: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x1c) was found in the CDATA section.".
; nested exception is: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x1c) was found in the CDATA section.

Explanation and Resolution:

The error should usually say if it’s CDATA or a specific Unicode Character for example. It will always be in the “CDATA” section, but the error would be different if it’s because of CDATA in the description field and if it’s a character, it will tell you which character. It stops after the first character is found, so there could be more than 1.You would be able to identify the particular Unicode character “0x1d”* or any other character depending on the case and you can see some examples on this link or also in the screenshot below - most times those characters are a result of wrong encoding or of the way the bulk file has been prepared/saved.
